Senior Product Engineer

Job Description:

The Senior Product Engineer will be responsible for driving and executing product and supplier management, quality goals and objectives with an emphasis on NPI to volume scale manufacturing. The ability to leverage prior experience and expertise to contribute in terms of Design for Reliability, Durability, Manufacturability/Assembly and Testability is essential. Also important is the ability to implement necessary processes/steps during NPI phase and early product launch in support of continual improvement and achievement of internal and external customer goals.
This position requires the ability to proactively drive actions internally externally, including driving manufacturing partners to meet internal and external customer expectations for quality in production. Successful execution of this role requires close collaboration with internal organizations including product management, process engineering, design engineering, and program management to identify causes of potential product failures during the NPI phases and drive corrective and preventative actions internally and/or with supplier factories as needed.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Serve as a key member in the operations team to anticipate and proactively manage product quality and reliability issues and improvement opportunities leading into production
  • Develop plans for preventing and addressing quality and reliability issues and drive key lessons learned into the manufacturing
  • Works closely with New Product Development team to define and execute quality goals, including identification, definition, implementation and tracking of Critical-to-Quality (CTQ) attributes and acceptance criteria
  • Utilize quality analytics tools to validate resolution of any issues to ensure quality goals are met
  • Lead cross functional teams in quick field failure analysis through closed loop corrective action and implementation of appropriate permanent solutions
  • Assume ownership and actively contribute to the FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) process on current and new designs
  • Develop and review production planning for new products
  • Participate in supplier management assessment and qualification of new partners relative to their impact on new product introduction
  • Contribute to the development of key quality procedures leveraging industry best practices.
  • Articulate and effectively communicate quality-related issues in terms of risk and potential impact to deliveries, financials, schedules and other business objectives

  • Perform all other duties as assigned and required
  • Provide timely reports and program updates to executive team

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Excellent command of English and Chinese languages
  • Excellent understanding of MEMS product and problem-solving techniques
  • Excellent MEMS process knowledge from a chute yield perspective
  • BS or higher degree in Engineering, Physics, or equivalent (Master’s preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a product engineering role
  • A good understanding of mechanical properties of MEMS structures and Semiconductor Device Physics
  • Excellent understanding of unit process performance, equipment and capabilities within a MEMS/Semiconductor wafer fab and camera packaging
  • Ability to interface with MEMs foundry for process performance, quality and delivery
  • Demonstrated knowledge in statistical analysis tools such as JMP, MiniTab or equivalent
  • Experience with manufacturing, reliability and qualification testing, specifically in MEMS and miniature camera space
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptionally organized and driven by results
