Next-Gen iPhones to all feature Sensor-Shift technology
DigiTimes, a well-known media in the global electronics industry, says Apple will be equipped with Sensor Shift OIS in the new iPhone (tentatively called iPhone 13) in 2021, which will improve the camera capability of iPhone across the board.
Sensor Shift is an optical image stabilization system that many people have already remembered for its outstanding feature: moving the Sensor rather than the entire lens stack to achieve image stabilization, significantly improving low light quality and stabilization. Either in iPhone 12 launch event or MEMS Drive's technology introduction over the past few years, the evolution of this technology has been reviewed for many times. Once, sensor shift stabilization could only be implemented in large form factor prosumer cameras and some mirrorless full frame cameras, and it supports 5-axis stabilization.
At the end of 2020, Sensor Shift first appeared on iPhone 12 Pro Max - flagship model, and will soon become the standard of the next generation iPhone. This move is bound to open a new era of Sensor Shift as a basic technology widely used in smartphone cameras.
If Apple's Sensor Shift improves this particular performance visibly, MEMS Drive's MEMS SensorShift goes far beyond that.
MEMS SensorShift built a physical movement platform for image sensor in mobile camera. The heart of Sensor Shift technology is made by MEMS electrostatic comb actuator, which can derive other functions through fast and high precision movement, such as super resolution and movement of other non-RGB sensors, so brand new camera functions born. The latest MEMS Drive stabilization test reconfirmed that MEMS Drive is more effective in reducing camera shake than the iPhone 12 Pro Max Sensor Shift.
